Authenticity is not a liability. It's a strength.
I got fired from a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion consultant job for including my pronouns in my email signature and having visible tattoos.
That experience ignited a fire in me to challenge the outdated norms of professionalism. Since then, I’ve been sharing authentic content on redefining professionalism through the lens of intersectionality and antiracism. No matter what space I’m in, I bring my whole self to the table—visible tattoos, pronouns, and all—because I believe true professionalism is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and courage, NOT conformity. I also recognize the privilege I have to stand in my authenticity and push for these changes. Not everyone has the safety or support to do so, which is why I’m dedicated to helping businesses, institutions, and organizations create inclusive spaces where authenticity and diversity can truly thrive. |
